The 2009 VMAs Fashion Lowdown
By far the hottest look of the night at the VMAs was the short, sequined metallic dress! The hemlines are shorter than ever this year! Literally every woman was wearing something metallic or something short! Hair was either sleek and pulled back or wild and parted down the middle. I liked Leighton Meester’s take on the “wild hair” trend. It was crazy while still being pretty. The make-up trend was mostly dramatic (hello Megan Fox). This year the celebs are playing up their eyes and their lips at the same time. This trend can be really flattering as long as you go light on the bronzer and the blush. Then there is just too much going on!
One of my favorites of the night was Kristin Cavallari. I liked her short silver metallic dress with the pulled back ponytail. Very sophisticated, yet fun and age appropriate. The worst was definitely Jennifer Lopez. She seems too old to be at these events anymore! Ugh. That dress had too much fabric. Not cute.
The Michael Jackson tribute was touching. I liked when Janet Jackson danced alongside Michael to Scream. But Madonna’s long speech? I could have lived without it!
I also couldn’t believe that Kanye West stole the mic from Taylor Swift to talk about Beyonce. That guy is so rude! Taylor sold way more albums than him this year and she deserves every award that she gets!
Other than that the show was pretty uneventful. I have to say that it was better than last year, but not as good as it used to be.
