Nicole Richie is already in full wedding planning mode! When she was engaged to DJ AM she wanted a big lavish wedding with elephants and 500+ guests. Now Popeater is reporting that she wants a more low key wedding with her fiance, Joel Madden.

“Nicole wants to keep the ceremony to close friends and family. It will be traditional with a simple white dress and very private,” a Richie pal tells me. “Both parents want their two beautiful children — daughter Harlow (2) and son Sparrow (5 months) — to be involved in the service where Nicole’s famous father Lionel Richie will give her away. However, old BFF Paris Hilton will not be a bridesmaid.”

Let’s face it: Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton are not really close friends anymore. They have absolutely nothing in common. Paris likes to flit from guy to guy and travel around the world. Nicole is the mother of two kids and the picture of domestic bliss.

I think once you have two children, you don’t need to have the ‘over the top’ wedding. I would think that having a family already would put the urge to have a big wedding at bay. After all, it’s basically like they are married already!
