Everyone who knows me is aware that I love candles. I usually have at least one burning in our house at all times. I love the simple luxury of lighting a candle and being transported to another place. The scent of certain candles evoke memories that I enjoy revisiting after a busy day.

I also love to light candles when entertaining. I don’t always use scented candles because I don’t want the fragrance to overpower everything that is going on in the kitchen! I simply love the atmosphere that they provide. I mean, who looks good under florescent lighting these days?

Candles are a fantastic way to add some life to your home. Here, are some of my favorite scents!

LAFCO makes the absolute best candles. Not only are the scents fantastic, but the hand blown glass containers are so beautiful and can be reused. They add to the decor of your home and they burn longer than any other candle I have ever had.

LAFCO- Pool House. This is the perfect scent for summer. The distinct smell of french lilac, fresh air, rose, and sweet pea come together to make you feel like you are lounging by the pool on a summer day!

LAFCO-Lake House. I keep buying this candle and I never get tired of it! It has a more subtle scent that will not overpower your space. Water hyacinth, aged cypress wood, and light moss make this scent a great one for the summer months. It is the next best thing to actually owning a lake house…

LAFCO-Master Bedroom. This scent is supposed to promote relaxation and peace. The chamomile lavender scent is one of their most popular candles, but it is not for everyone. My husband thinks it is too strong. I personally love it. It makes me feel like I am in a spa! It is a year-round scent so it works even in the fall and winter months.

LAFCO- Library. This is perhaps my favorite LAFCO scent for fall. I can’t get enough of the combination of Sage & Walnut. I have to wait until the fall and winter months to burn this one because it is too heavy for the summer time. You will get addicted to this fragrance!

One of the best things about these candles is that you can rinse out the glass and reuse them when they are finished burning. My husband and I have started a collection of the soft blue Lake House containers because it goes so well with our bedroom decor. You can use them for little flower arrangements or a set of glasses in your kitchen!

My other favorite candles are all made by Voluspa. Although these don’t last as long as LAFCO, I am too obsessed with some of the scents that I can’t give them up! They remind me of when I had my own apartment in college. It became a space that was uniquely me and I got to have full control over what candles were burning!

Voluspa- French Bourbon Vanille. I absolutely adore the scent of vanilla, but I don’t like the sickeningly sweet smell of it in cheap candles. This candle is the perfect mix of warm vanilla with a hint of bourbon. It is perfection. This candle is hard to find so every time I am at Lake Austin Spa, I pick one up!

Voluspa- Crisp Champagne. This is a great candle to burn when you are entertaining. It doesn’t overpower the room. I love how they mixed the scent of crisp champagne, vanilla, and barrel oak together. It puts you in a celebratory mood! This is a candle that I burn all year.

Voluspa-Soleil. This is a newer candle from Voluspa. I ran into this one by accident at Lake Austin Spa and I had to add it to my collection! It is a great scent for spring and summer. It smells like laying on the beach with a tropical drink in your hand. It combines pineapple, orange, coconut, and vanilla fragrances to make the perfect little escape in a jar!

Voluspa- Panjore Lychee. This is my absolute favorite summer scent from Voluspa. It combines rich lychee fruit, pear, cassis and a touch of vanilla husk for a scent that is fruity and sweet. I also love how girly the printed pink container is! It is refreshing, floral, and succulent all at the same time. The perfect scent for daytime.

I usually find my Voluspa candles at Lake Austin Spa or The Beauty Store in Austin. I have to order the seasonal candles online if I want them when they are not ‘in season’.
