I love awards season so much because the ladies usually bring it. This year on The Golden Globes red carpet I noticed several trends that are sure to make their way into your look for the year.

Hair: TONS of up-dos. Buns, french twists, and architectural hairstyles were the mainstay on the carpet. We have been seeing long flowing locks on the carpet in recent years so this was a complete departure. It seems fresh! I like it.

Dresses: We are still seeing a lot of the one-shoulder trend but this year, the shoulder is full of volume and ruffles. The color trends on the red carpet were red, pink/peach, nude, emerald green, and black. Most actresses wore something in one of those colors. We didn’t see a lot of prints and patterns, but I loved the color on the red carpet.

Make-up: We saw pretty, fresh make-up on the red carpet. Light pink lips, natural eyes, and a healthy glow.

Shoes: The red carpet was all about the statement shoe. Even though most women had dresses that covered their shoes, they still wore amazing heels! That is dedication!

Now onto the best dressed women of the night (in no particular order)…

January Jones looked sexy and glamourous in her red fringe Versace dress. Only someone who has supreme confidence could rock a dress like this. I love the color, love her hair, and I love that she paired it with a red lip. Gorgeous!

Emma Stone proved that she can work it like the best of them in this gorgeous peach Calvin Klein dress. I love the minimalism of the dress with the bright, vivid color. She looks fantastic!

Angelina Jolie looked flawless in an emerald green, crystal-beaded Atelier Versace gown. She looks so stunning! I love the simple silhouette of the dress with all of that beading. The style is in Angelina’s wheelhouse, but at least she wore color! Now the only thing she needs to do is dye her hair a darker brown. That would be perfection!

Mila Kunis is one of my favorites. She seems like she never takes herself too seriously, yet she always looks gorgeous! I love her emerald green Vera Wang dress! I love the one-shoulder and the draping.

Jennifer Lopez always looks glamourous. You can tell that she puts a lot of effort into what she wears. A lot of people didn’t like this Zuhair Murad dress, but I thought it was unexpected and feminine. I liked the beaded shawl and I love the fact that she wore white. I was not crazy about her make-up. There was too much bronzer going on!

All of you young actresses, take note. THIS is how it’s done. Catherine Zeta Jones looked like royalty in her emerald green Monique Lhuillier dress. The hair, the jewelry, the dress…all of it was perfection! She always knows how to bring the drama! I have missed seeing her on the red carpet.

Anne Hathaway was one of my top best dressed picks of the night! I absolutely love her  amber colored Giorgio Armani Prive dress made with paillettes and crystals. This dress was modern with its shoulder pads and daring with the low-cut back. Anne is hosting the Academy Awards and I know she is going to turn it out on that red carpet as well.

Olivia Wilde is always one to watch. She looked so flawless last night in a chocolate colored crystal beaded Monique Lhuillier dress. I want this dress so much. It is too much fun! And wait for it…the shoes! Her gold studded Christian Louboutin heels are to die for!

Eva Longoria looked classic and sophisticated in a mermaid style, black Zac Posen dress. I think she looks great in this dress! I give her a lot of credit for going to the show and keeping her head up. She looked amazing!

And last but not least, Lea Michele looked pretty in pink in her Oscar de la Renta gown. I love this dress! Mainly because I love the color! I wish that Lea would do something different with her hair, but the whole look was fun and age appropriate!

Honorable mentions to Dianna Agron in J. Mendel, Megan Fox in Giorgio Armani Prive, and Piper Perabo in Oscar de la Renta. I also loved Kyra Sedgewick’s earrings! I need to find out who makes these because they are gorgeous. They were the perfect compliment to her stunning dress.

I wanted so badly to like Natalie Portman’s dress, but I just hated it. I would have loved to see her wear pink, but the red heart just totally threw me off. I also loved that Sofia Vergara wore red, but I didn’t obsess over her dress. She looked beautiful because she would look amazing in anything, but she has yet to wear something that knocks me off my feet!
